Africa is place of stunning beauty, and also of third world living conditions. We pass through the local village of Naminya, and come into contact with a lot of Ugandan people on our safaris. Ugandan people in our experience are amongst the most friendly people in Africa. Uganda and especially the area around the source of the Nile in Jinja, is a exceptionally fertile area, and subsistance farming is the most common way of life in our area. No one in the village goes hungry, as Ugandans have a strong sense of family, and look after each other if someone has a brief period of shortage. Occassionally children will ask for money when safaris pass by. We are trying to discourage begging, as we believe it has a negative social affect, and helps continue Africa's want and increasing reliance on international aid.

OUR SERVICES

1hr mixed group

Our 1 hr ride is aimed at novices, kids, aged riders and those that may be a little nervous. It is an introductory slow paced safari, (walk and trot), with most of the ride in the local village and about 1 km along the banks of the Nile. Really nervous riders can be led along on lead ropes if required. (Kids from 6 years). This is essentially a trail ride.

1.5hr mixed group

Our 1.5 hr ride is a slightly more advanced version of our 1 hour ride. There are some opportunities for a short canter if you choose, but this safari is still a slower paced safari more aimed at being a sightseeing tour through the village and along the river bank rather than a hard core riding trip. A great trip for groups of friends or family that don't want anything too intense.

2hr mixed group

This ride is for groups of friends/family with a range of abilities who want to ride together. There are various opportunities for cantering and the ride takes in mostly the local village and the section along the Nile.

Sunset ride

This is a late afternoon ride of 1.5 hours during the cooler part of the day. More of a relaxed ride, great for all abilities and takes in the stunning light across the river and the relaxed mood of the village in the late afternoon. Also includes boat transport from NRE campsite or Nile River Camp and a few sundowner drinks after the ride. This is chilled ride with only a small amount of cantering opportunities.

2hr advanced

A great ride for advanced riders, with lots of cantering in the hills and plantations but also with the section in the village and along the Nile.

3hr advanced

This is our riders safari, a hard core fast paced ride, with only yourself or other very experienced riders. You cover a lot of ground and unless you are riding regularly you will be exhaused after 3 hours. Long canters in the plantations, and also our standard sections in the village and along the riverbank. As good as it gets on our short rides.

Overnight Safari

A 9 to 10 hour ride over 2 days staying at The Haven river lodge. For an extreme ride with river, village, jungle, forest, lake and plantation terrains to see on the way. An awesome experience for confident riders. Requires minimum of 2 riders.

Kids Pony Rides

Pony rides for kids from 4 to 12 years. A guide walks the pony with your kids at all times. 30 minute or 1 hour options.
